EWC Hosts Wyoming Academic Challenge

Eastern Wyoming College recently hosted the Wyoming Academic Challenge. Nine Wyoming high schools sent thirteen teams to compete. The two to five-member teams participated in four rigorous rounds of competition. Questions ranged from current events, mathematics and literature. Schools participating were: Big Piney, Campbell County, Cheyenne East, Douglas, Evanston, Pine Bluffs, Riverside, Sheridan and Tongue River.
Campbell County High School team 1 placed first with a total of 925 points, those students are Ryan Christensen, Rylee Constable, Abbi Elger, and Aaron Russell. Second place went to Cheyenne East Team 2 with 765 points, those students are Zane Dobler, Connor Gililland, Liam Guille, Jimi Hayes, and Parris Kline. Third place went to Sheridan High School with 760 points, those students are Anastasia Giljum, Caleb Hoopes, Emmalee Hoopes, and Tyler Myers. Riverside High School won the small schools division with 330 points, those students are James DesRosier, Nikki Perl, Adelle Stone, and Calvin Williamson.
The winning teams were presented with plaques and medals. Students on the overall first place team were presented with scholarships to attend EWC.
