EWC Hosts Wyoming Academic Challenge

Eastern Wyoming College hosted the Wyoming Academic Challenge on February 17, 2018. Seven Wyoming high schools sent twelve teams to compete. The two to four-member teams participated in four rigorous rounds of competition. Questions ranged from current events, and mathematics to literature. Schools participating were: Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Douglas, Evanston, Lovell, Pine Bluffs, and Riverside.

Evanston High School team placed first with a total of 675 points, those students are Ian Siegismund, Heinrich Schoedel, Jake Paucarpura, Rachael Ally and Hausen Sawyer. Second place went to Cheyenne East team #1 with 565 points, those students are Tyler Miller, Alexandria Rinne, Tiffany Welton and Connor Hays. Third place went to Riverside High School team # 1 with 525 points, those students are Adelle Stone, James DesRosier, and Matt Gesch. Riverside High School team #1 won the small schools division with 525 points, those students are Adelle Stone, James DesRosier, and Matt Gesch.

The winning teams were presented with plaques and medals. Students on the overall first place team were presented with scholarships to attend EWC.
