New EWC Men’s Basketball Coach and Fitness Center Director Neal Sherbeyn

Eastern Wyoming College is pleased to announce that Neal Sherbeyn has been appointed as the Men’s Basketball Coach and Fitness Center Director.  Sherbeyn has served in both positions this past year as the interim.

Sherbeyn received a B.S. in Kinesiology from Western State College of Colorado in Gunnison.  He has eight years of coaching experience with three at the collegiate level.  He also has competed in multiple sports throughout his lifetime including time as a collegiate athlete and a professional athlete.

Sherbeyn brings over twenty-five years of experience in the fitness industry as he takes over the role of Fitness Center Director.  He has developed, instructed and supervised programming for every age, children through the elderly and every skill level and functional capacity, from novice fitness participants to elite athletes and those suffering from debilitating injuries and illness.  He also received certification from the American Council on Exercise in 1995.

“I would like to thank Eastern Wyoming College for giving me the opportunity to become the Fitness Center Director and Head Men’s Basketball Coach,” shared Sherbeyn.  “I am very excited to begin a new era of Lancer Basketball and continue to evolve the Fitness Center.  I am very honored.”

EWC athletic director Tom Andersen shared the following, “I am pleased and excited to put Neal in the permanent position of Fitness Center Director and Men’s Basketball coach.  I look forward to the experience and expertise he brings in the fitness field as we grow the Fitness Center and develop fitness opportunities for the student-athletes at EWC and for the community.  As a coach, I am looking forward to Neal’s leadership and passion as he takes over men’s basketball on a permanent basis.  Fans can expect to see passionate, hard-nosed, fundamentally strong and exciting games.”

Sherbeyn begins his new position on July 1.
