TORRINGTON, WY –
Eastern Wyoming College has received a one-year Employment and Training for Self-Sufficiency (ETSS) grant in the amount of $96,500.
The grant funds will be used to train certified nursing assistants (CNA’s) and support welders in obtaining a certification. The average salary range in Wyoming for CNA’s is $9.00 to $15.00 per hour. Welders in the state can earn a range of $17.00 to $25.00 per hour.
There are currently CNA classes running in Newcastle and Torrington with a class scheduled in Douglas for 2009. More sessions will be offered in the Spring of 2009. The welding program is a year long, 30 credit hour certificate program that will begin in January.
Those interested should contact Aaron Wolfe, Workforce Case Coordinator, at 307.532.8366.
Applicants have to meet the income requirements and must be a parent or legal guardian of a child 18 years old or younger. This program will cover the cost of tuition, books, fees, supplies, and some other family needs to help support the participant to complete the training that they need to become self-sufficient.
