Eastern Wyoming College has received notification on behalf of the College Reading & Learning Association’s (CRLA) International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC) team that the tutoring program offered through the Student Success Center has received a three-year certification.
“This certification means that our tutors will receive top-notch training and in turn be able to provide great tutoring assistance to our students,” Director Court Merrigan said. “This semester twelve student tutors offer assistance in thirty-one academic areas, and this number will grow in the spring. In addition, Math instructor Vicky Mayfield will provide professional-level math tutoring services.”
Program certification began on April 3, 2018 and will end April 15, 2021 at which time the College will reapply.
“Quality tutoring benefits our students at EWC in multiple ways. Tutoring is personalized and will improve the study habits of our students,” stated EWC President Dr. Lesley Travers. “Additionally, the additional help and reinforcement provides more opportunities for our students to practice the application of new information. And lastly, believe it or not, it improves their social and behavioral skills. The EWC Student Success Center is a happening place on campus.”
Tutoring is available in the Student Success Center from 8AM-3PM every weekday, as well as on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-8PM. Distance students also have online access to tutors via NetTutor.
