EWC Rodeo Team Continues Quest for CNFR Qualification

The Eastern Wyoming College rodeo team continues a strong streak of winning and placing at this fall’s rodeos.

Alicia Eaves, sophomore from Lancaster, CA won the average in the barrel racing with a score of 37.54. Paige Stovall, freshman, Torrington WY qualified for the short go in barrel racing. In breakaway Becca Kartak, sophomore from Colome, SD placed 8th in the long go.

In the steer wrestling, Clay Packer, freshman from Sturgis, SD placed 6th in the average with fellow team mate AJ Freeman, freshman, from Dunning, NE 6th in the long go.

The EWC team roping teams of Derek Weinreis, sophomore from Beach, ND, and partner Levi O’Keeffe, sophomore, Mohall, ND, brought home 1st in the average while team mates Coleton Spitz, Sophomore, Holyoke, CO, and Logan Macomber, sophomore , Arthur, NE placed 4th in the average.

Josh Davison, sophomore, from Miles City, MT placed 4th in the average in saddle bronc. Jake Etzhorn, sophomore from Pierre, SD placed 2nd in the long go in bull riding.

“I am very excited for Alicia. She has worked hard to put herself and her horse in a position to do well at these fall rodeos. I look forward to watching them compete down the stretch.” shared Coach Jake Clark. “This is also the third time that Derek and Levi have won the Sheridan rodeo” coach Clark said.

The team travels to Lamar, Colorado next for the rodeo hosted by Lamar Community College.
