The members and advisors of SkillsUSA at Eastern Wyoming College recently celebrated National SkillsUSA week February 7-13.

The club sold raffle tickets for a .12 gauge shotgun as a fundraiser. On January 29, Dr. Rex Cogdill, VP for Student Services pulled the winning tickets. The second place prize of a $50 Cabela’s gift card went to Tim Anderson and the first place prize went to John McGuire.

SkillsUSA is a Career-Technical Student Organization serving students in Secondary and Post-Secondary technical, skilled, and service occupations. EWC has had an active chapter for over a decade, achieving great results at state and national competitions.

This semester EWC’s organization has been very active on campus, in the community, and at the state level. Approximately fifteen members are planning on competing at the Wyoming State Leadership Conference in April.

Some of the club’s accomplishments this year include a welcome to school barbeque and dance in September, purchased and delivered Christmas presents for children at the Torrington Learning Center, assisted in the Goshen County Two Shot Goose Hunt, volunteered at the EWC Sagebrush and Roses Banquet, and have been active in EWC events and activities.

The EWC Chapter has produced National Champions in Welding, Computer Skills, and other academic events. EWC has been represented at the national level for the past thirteen years in the fields of welding, fabrication, sculpture, speech, business, technology, and math.
