Raina Youkin a student at Eastern Wyoming College is enrolled in POLS 1000, American and Wyoming Government with instructor Ellen Creagar.

At the beginning of the semester the class read Soul of a Citizen: Living with Conviction in a Cynical Time, by Paul Loeb, discussing why it matters for citizens to get involved and what we get back when we get involved. Each student then chose a service project, the requirements being that it is something the student is interested in, it does not pay, and it helps others somehow.

Raina wanted to do something to help those in Colorado impacted by the flood. She thought that she would collect needed items for the people of Colorado like clothes, blankets and furniture. “She did it all herself, from the ads to the collection to the delivery. I helped only with advice and logistics” said instructor Ellen Creagar.
