EWC students volunteer at Torrington Middle School

Eastern Wyoming College men’s basketball players recently volunteered to unload and stack incoming food for the backpack program at Torrington Middle School.

The Goshen County School District Backpack Program distributes over 350 bags to 7 area school buildings each week. Volunteers gather on Wednesday evenings to fill and deliver the backpacks. The program began five years ago when Rick and Marilyn Cotant realized children were returning to school on Mondays having had nothing to eat over the weekend. Roberta Mullock is in charge of the Program now since the Cotant’s retirement.
