EWC women’s basketball student athletes receive Region IX honors

Eastern Wyoming College women’s basketball players Pamela Bethel, Lauren O’Connell, and Abril Rexach Roure recently received Region IX recognition.

Pamela Bethel, sophomore, Nassau, Bahamas, Lauren O’Connell, sophomore, Houston, TX, and Abril Roure, freshman, Lleida, Spain were named to the All-Region IX South Team.

Bethel was also named to the Region IX All-Tournament Team. She was 1^st in the NJCAA stats for top rebounder in the nation with an average of 14.6 rebounds per game and a total of 467 rebounds for the season.

“Pamela had a great year and is a great ambassador for EWC, with a very promising future. Abril did a great job stepping in at point guard for the team and was able to make things happen, she did a great job passing the ball to other teammates and we look forward to her return for the next season. Lauren stepped in and became a great player and leader this season, she also has a promising future. Both Pamela and Lauren were voted captains by the team,” said coach Tom Andersen.
