TORRINGTON, WY –
The Eastern Wyoming College women’s rodeo team returned from the Sheridan College rodeo with a second place finish.
“I’m pleased with the consistency I am seeing from our women’s team so far this season. I look forward to watching them successfully compete through this fall season to boost them into the spring season,” said Coach Jake Clark.
In the barrel racing, freshman Branda Williams, Hammond, MT, was second in the first round and third in the short round which landed her second in the average. Sophomore Stephanie Newman, Melstone, MT was fourth in the first round.
Sophomore Toree Gunn, Wasta, SD, won the short round and finished in third place in the average.
Shelby Winchell a freshman from Scottsbluff, NE finished the weekend in fourth place in the goat tying.
The EWC men’s team continues to climb in the regional standings. They finished the weekend in fifth place.
“Riley and Troy have really been doing well and are currently sitting in second and third places respectively in the tie down roping standings,” shared Clark.
Freshman Riley Pruitt, Gering, NE, won both rounds to bring home his second win, two weekends in a row. Sophomore Troy Wilcox, Red Owl, SD won second in the short round and third in the average.
The Lancer Rodeo Team will travel to Lamar, Colorado to compete this weekend.
