Lancers win Lamar tournament

The Eastern Wyoming College golf team recently returned from a tournament hosted by Lamar Community College where the Lancers won the team title with a total score of 447. The second place team was McCook Community College with a score of 465.
Round two of the tournament was canceled after 9 holes due to the weather.
“The guys played great on Thursday and took full advantage of some really nice weather. They ended the first day with a 13 stroke lead,” said Coach Zach Smith. “They were mentally prepared for the poor weather on Friday and continued to play well until the tournament was called after 9 holes. It was a great team win for EWC.”
Leading the Lancers individually was Harry Walch, freshman, Staines, England, with a score of 105. He placed second in the tournament. Other Lancer’s scores were as follows:
Adrian Torres-Ruiz, sophomore, Madrid, Spain – 111, 5th
Arvy Shongwe, freshman, Elzuwini, Swaziland – 115, 9th
Denton Shaw, sophomore, Lusk, WY – 116, tied 10th
Jared Pilkington, freshman, Scottsbluff, NE – 124
Eric Lovell, sophomore, Greeley, CO – 129
The Lancers will compete in McCook, NE April 6-7.
