Eastern Wyoming College welcomes several new employees to campus this fall. “Our new faculty members bring with them extensive classroom and teaching experience. We welcome them and are fortunate they have joined our ranks. They are filling critical and growing curriculum areas including mathematics, agriculture and livestock judging, and health technology. Of course we are very excited to welcome Dr. Titus Man, our Romanian Fulbright Scholar, to our ranks for the year. Along with the other new faculty members, he participated in our new faculty orientation, and is preparing for a number of speaking engagements and special topics classes involving Geographic Information Systems (GIS). We are off to a good start and welcome all of our new employees to our EWC family.” shared Dr. Dee Ludwig, Vice President for Learning.
New faculty and staff members include the following:
Robert Schmalzried, Math Instructor comes to Torrington from Manitowoc, Wisconsin. At Silver Lake College, Robert was the Chair of Math, Science and Business Department. He also served as Program Director for Mathematics. Robert was an instructor of Mathematics at Silver Lake College where he served as an advisor for mathematics majors. Robert has completed a Masters’ of Science in Education, majoring in Mathematics of Secondary Education at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio. he completed his Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education of Mathematics also from Youngstown State University. He has also taught as an adjunct for Globe University in Green Bay, Wisconsin, High School math at JFK Catholic high School in Warren, Ohio. Mr. Schmalzried has also presented at education conferences in Wisconsin Dells, Chicago, Illinois and at Silver Lake College.
Susan Stephenson, Financial Aid Director Susan comes to EWC from Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Education: University of Missouri Columbia Grad Work
Drury University, Springfield, MO Bachelor of Arts, Art History; Arts Management Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS Bachelors Vocal Music, English Literature Susan was Assistant Financial Aid Director at Western Nebraska Community Colleg. She was Editor/Graphic Designer for the Star Herald in Scottsbluff. Administrative Assistant/Graphic and Web Designer for the School of Music at the University of Missouri. She was a Teaching Assistant/Research Assistant and Teaching assistant for the Department of Art History at the University of Missouri. Susan also was an Art History Adjunct Instructor at Drury University in Rolla, MO.
Dr. Georgia Younglove, Agriculture Instructor and Livestock Judging coach. Georgia comes to EWC from Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska where she served as a Professor of Agriculture. Georgia also served as Assistant Fair Manager and Administrative Assistant in Uinta County, Evanston, Wyoming. She was also a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Wyoming for Ecology and Watershed Management. Georgia also worked for the Colorado Wool Growers Association in Arvada, Colorado. Georgia also has experience with the National Western Stock Show, Colorado Sports Council/U.S. Olympic Festival, Northwest College Agriculture Pavilion and the Office of Information at NWCC in Powell, Wyoming. Georgia has completed her Doctorate of Philosophy in Rangeland Ecology at the University of Wyoming. Her Master of Science, in Animal Science was completed at Texas A&M, College Station, Texas.
Vicki Winney – Douglas Outreach Health Technology Instructor
Vicki is moving to a new position with the Douglas Campus. Her previous position was to conduct CNA and medication Aide Certification classes. In completing her Master of Nursing Degree at Clarkson College in Omaha, Nebraska, she will now be the Health Technology Instructor. Vicki received her Associate Degree in Nursing from Odessa College in Odessa Texas. She has also been involved with the Nurse Educator Summit with the Wyoming Hospital Association; Wyoming nurses Association and completed trainings through the Nebraska Health Care Association. Vicki has also worked for the American Red Cross as an Evaluator.
Stuart Nelson, Human Resources Director. Stuart comes to us from Wheatland where he spent the past ten years as Superintendent of Schools. Prior to his Wheatland position, he served as a principal in Cheyenne. Stuart has also served as an Adjunct teacher of Mathematics and Technology at LCCC in Cheyenne and NWCC in Powell. Stuart has completed an Educational Specialists degree from the University of Wyoming. He also completed his Bachelor of Science degree from UW in mathematics education. Stuart completed his Master of Science Degree in Business Management from Lesley College in Boston, MA. Stuart has been certified by the International Employee Benefits Association (CAPPP) and served on Blue Cross Trust Health Insurance Board. He has been published in “Profiles of Progress”, by MCREL, testified in Washington, DC for the State of Wyoming to the Congressional Education Committee and was the keynote speaker at the Western Regional Technology Conference on Education in Denver, Colorado
Dr. Titus Man, Fulbright Scholar in residence is the Assistant Professor – Applied GIS and Remote Sensing Department of Regional Geography “Babeș-Bolyai” University, Faculty of Geography Cluj-Napoca, Cluj. He received his B. Sc. “Babeş-Bolyai” University Cluj-Napoca, Faculty of Geography, Romania (1998) Geography – Environmental Science. M. Sc “Babeş-Bolyai” University Cluj-Napoca, Faculty of Geography, Romania (2004) Geography – GIS Ph. D. “Babeş-Bolyai” University Cluj-Napoca, Faculty of Geography, Romania (2008) Geography (Theme: Regional Approaches using GIS).
