Pruitt Wins tie down roping at Lancer Rodeo

TORRINGTON, WY –
Riley Pruitt continues his climb to a College National Finals Qualification with a win at his home rodeo, the Lancer Rodeo held in Torrington this past weekend. Pruitt, a freshman from Gering, NE, won the first round and the second round to finish first overall in the tie down roping. He also leads the regional standings in this event.
Freshman Tyler Wortman, Highmore, SD and partner Dane Kissack, Gillette College won the first round of the team roping.
Sophomore Troy Wilcox, Red Owl, SD and partner Tee Hale, White Owl, SD finished the weekend in second place overall in the team roping. Wilcox also finished in the top ten in the first round of the tie down roping.
In the breakaway roping, sophomore Charlie Opela, Stapleton, Ne, finished in fourth place in the first round.
Other top ten qualifiers from the Eastern Wyoming College team in the first round included Brady Cross, Sophomore, Harrisburg, NE, in the Saddle Bronc Riding and Jake Allbaugh, sophomore, Gering, NE, in the Bareback Riding.
Coach Jake Clark added the following comments about the Lancer Rodeo, “Riley continues to lead the regional standings. He is roping really well even though he hasn’t drawn that well but he is making it work and I am very proud of him. The men’s team had a great weekend with a third place finish. We are still a little ways back from the leaders but we are going to make a run for it.”
