Rodeo team continues quest for college national finals qualifications

With just two rodeo’s left in the Central Rocky Mountain region the EWC men’s team is in 4th place with 2,805 points and the women have 786.66 points for 7th place.EWC was in second place after the Colorado State rodeo but slipped after the home rodeo last weekend in Torrington. 
In bull riding, Jordan McAllister, from Gering, NE placed 1stat the CSU rodeo and 4th at the EWC rodeo. Jordan is also 3rdin the NIRA bull riding standings for the Central Rocky Mountain region. At the EWC Rodeo Troy Wilcox, Red Owl, SD placed 4th in tie down roping and 7th in steer wrestling to capture 5th in the men’s all-around, he is 5th in the standings and 5th in the men’s all-around. Trey Fortune, Milesville, SD and Lane Hall, Winner, SD  finished fifth and sixth respectively in saddle bronc riding and Lane is 7th in the standings.
 Tie-Down roping standings for the region have Riley Pruitt, Gering NE at 2nd and Troy Wilcox at 5th.
Team Roper standings have Derek Weinreis, Sentinel Butte, ND and Levi O’Keefe, Mohall, ND are sitting at 2nd place. Headers Troy Wilcox is in 7th place, Trae Seebaum, Douglas, WY in 9th. Heelers are Tee Hale, White Owl, SD in 6th and Trae Kautzman, Kindred, ND in 8th.
For the women’s team at the home rodeo, Shelby Winchell, Gering NE finished third in goat tying with a run of 15.5 seconds and is in 4thplace in the standings as of April 9, 2012.
“Our students continue to shine each weekend. They are motivated and are working hard. The next two rodeos will be exciting to watch” said coach Jake Clark.
