Academic Testing for Current & Prospective College Students

The Testing Center, which is located in the Tebbet Building room T133 in the Torrington Campus, is open 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Most exams are by appointment only.

Placement scores for English, Reading, and Math aid in proper class selection for academic success. Placement can be achieved through qualifying ACT/SAT scores or by taking the ACCUPLACER exam. For math placement, there is an additional process as described below.

ACCUPLACER Placement Tests

ACCUPLACER is a suite of placement exams used to determine proper placement of students in Math, English, and Reading. Students may take one test, any combination of two tests, or all three tests in one sitting.

By appointment only.

The fee is $20.00 and must be paid to the EWC Business Office in advance of testing. The first retake of each test is free at a later date if taken within one year of the initial test. Every subsequent retake is $7.50 per test.

ACCUPLACER Student Portal – Find test descriptions, sample questions, look up your previous scores, and access the ACCUPLACER Study App for practice tests.
