Weinreis, O’Keeffe continue winning streak

The sophomore team roping team of Derek Weinreis, Beach, ND and Levi O’Keeffe, Mohall, ND are leading the Central Rocky Mountain team roping standings with 650 points each. This comes after another win at the Lamar College rodeo. The team dominated the rodeo winning both the long go, short go and average.

Teammates Trey Yates, freshman, Pueblo, CO and partner Brit Ellerman who rodeos for UW tied for 2nd/3rd in the long go and were fourth in the average. The freshman team of Kody Haas, Ault, CO and Shane Friede, Johnstown, CO were 5th in the long go.

In the tie down roping, Carson Musick, freshman, Pierre, SD was 3rd in the average and Yates finished 5th in the average. AJ Freeman, freshman, Dunning, NE qualified for the short go in 10th place.

Josh Davison, sophomore, Miles City, MT was 6th in the long go of the saddle bronc riding.

In the ladies breakaway roping, Mardee Sierks, sophomore, Brewster, NE was 7th in the long go and teammate Kaylie Haun, freshman, Torrington, WY was 9th.

Sierks also placed in the goat tying where she was 5th in the long go, short go, and average.

Torrington cowgirl Michaella Lay, sophomore finished 6th in the average of the barrel racing. Bailey Shaack, freshman, Hyannis, NE was 3rd in the long go.

The EWC Lancer Rodeo team is currently sitting in 4th place in the regional standings and the women’s team is in 3rd place. The fall season will conclude this weekend in Cheyenne at the Laramie County Community College rodeo.
