Wilcox and Pruitt Continue to Top Regional Standings

TORRINGTON, WY –
Sophomore Troy Wilcox, White Owl, SD and freshman Riley Pruitt, Gering, NE, continue to secure top spots in the Central Rocky Mountain regional standings after wins at the college rodeo held in Lamar, Colorado.
Wilcox captured the all-around title for the second time this fall rodeo season. In the tie down roping, he finished first in round one and 5th overall which places him in the 3rd place spot in the regional standings. Wilcox also finished in 3rd place overall in the steer wrestling which helped him earn the all-around title.
Pruitt won the tie down roping at the Lamar rodeo which landed him securely in the first place spot in the regional standings.
“These guys have been great to watch this fall,” shared Coach Jake Clark. “The whole team is making progress each week and I am very proud of them.”
In the team roping, freshman Colby Sturgeon, Torrington and his partner Will VanHill of LCCC placed 3rd in the short go and finished the weekend in 3rd place overall.
Branda Williams, a freshman from Broadus, MT finished the weekend in 6th place in the barrel racing.
In the breakaway roping, Charlie Opela, a sophomore from Stapleton, NE, was first in the short go and finished 2nd overall for the weekend.
Freshman Shelby Winchill, Scottsbluff, NE, was 2nd in the short go and 3rd overall in the goat tying. Her success this fall season has landed her in fourth place in the regional standings.
The Lancer rodeo team will travel to Cheyenne this weekend to compete in the last rodeo of the fall season.
