January 8, 2019

Eastern Wyoming College, along with Goshen County School District, and Goshen County Economic Development Corporation are pleased to announce the addition of a new dual enrollment course for the Spring 2019 semester. Youth Entrepreneurship Topics, a 2 credit hour course, will be offered as an online and face-to-face hybrid course. The instructor will be Payton Rice.

This course is designed for students who are interested in starting businesses, launching products within organizations or setting growth strategies for businesses. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in this course to gain knowledge and experience in entrepreneurial management at an in-depth level.

Students will actively work with entrepreneurs in the Goshen County Economic Development Corporation’s Goshen Enterprise Center Business Incubator. This hands-on experience with instructors and business owners will dive into critical aspects of Entrepreneurship from finding customers, testing markets, planning financials, and pitching solutions to the business clients. The students are expected to work as a team that will be formed during the class time, along with completing individual work. Students will use Lean Startup Methodology, for launching products and learning about potential customers.

Students are expected to initiate and lead interaction inside and outside of the classroom with other team members, business owners, potential customers, mentors, instructors, and wider community members to maximize their own learning and create viable solutions for businesses. The expected weekly time commitment is 6-10 hours. Various mentorship opportunities will be shared in the classroom to provide diverse entrepreneurial perspectives.

Students interested in this course should contact the counselor at their respective schools to register.
