EWC Foundation golf tournament raises over $12,000

The Eastern Wyoming College Foundation hosted their 29th annual golf tournament and Calcutta on June 14th and 15th and raised a total of $12,689 to foster student success at EWC.  This year’s tournament boasted 61 corporate sponsors and 22 teams.

Winning the tournament was the team of Brian Childs, David Sheller, Julie Haught, and Gary Childs and placing second was the team of Lucas Moore, Steve Feagler, Mark Feagler, and Mark Jespersen.

Todd Peterson President of Eastern Wyoming College Foundation encapsulated the event “The EWC golf tournament is an event that many golfers look forward to every year.  I want to thank the participants, the sponsors and all of EWC Foundation members and staff.”  Peterson continued “I want to also thank the Cottonwood Golf Course staff who help make this event a success each year.”

This year’s tournament also served as a fundraiser for the nationally ranked EWC Golf Team, Coach Zach Smith stated “having the support of the Foundation and the Lancer Booster Club is extremely important to the success of our program.”  Coach Smith continued “The tournament provides an excellent opportunity for our men to interact with the community and participate in what makes Torrington and EWC truly unique.”  The funds raised for the golf team will help with purchasing equipment and travel costs.

John Hansen Director of Institutional Development stated “the course looked amazing this year and special thanks to Dave Dent for his support of the tournament.”  Hansen continued “The funds raised will also help us move closer to opening the doors of our ATEC facility in August of 2020, we are only $360,000 away from a fully funded industry-leading Ag facility.”
