EWC notified of two COVID-19 cases

October 30, 2020

Eastern Wyoming College has received notification of two (2) positive student cases. Both students live off-campus.

Public Health officials are working directly with these students to determine contact tracing and will directly contact any individuals who are determined to be at risk due to close contact. Close contact refers to an individual who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes.

Students who are quarantined under state health orders in the residence halls were tested this week thanks to the help of local Banner Health officials. The results of those rapid tests were negative. The students remain under state health orders to quarantine.

College officials are working closely with Goshen County Public Health officials to secure a COVID test which could be used to begin surveillance testing on residence hall students beginning as early as next week. Several details still remain to be worked out.

It is imperative that individuals remain diligent and carefully follow all public health orders and safety measures. As a reminder, if you have symptoms of illness, or develop COVID-19 symptoms while on campus, isolate yourself immediately and contact a health care professional. Please remember to continue to practice good hygiene, social distancing, and wear a face-covering or mask at all times. All students, employees, and visitors are required to wear masks or face coverings in all EWC facilities. Any updates will continue to be posted on the EWC website at the following link: https://ewc.wy.edu/alerts/.
