EWC hosts annual Lancer Rodeo
Eastern Wyoming College was pleased to host the second rodeo of the spring season March 26-27. Sophomore Cameron Jensen, Bingham, NE, led the team by placing in two events. Jensen was 3rd in the tie down roping average. He was 2nd in the first round with a time of 9.6 seconds and 4th in the short round with a 12.7 second run. He was also 2nd in the first round of the steer wrestling with a time of 5.3 seconds and split 5th in the short round with a time of 10.2. He finished the weekend 5th in the steer wrestling average.
Freshman Baily Coombs, Wellington, CO, was 5th in the first round of the breakaway roping with a time of 2.8 seconds. She finished the weekend 7th in the average.
EWC barrel racer Shay Hough, sophomore, Gillette, WY, qualified for the short round with a time of 15.76.
“We had some students compete well. A couple of them are climbing up in the regional standings which is what you want to happen this time of year,” said Coach Jake Clark. “It was great to bring back the Lancer Rodeo to this community after a year off. The students were excited to have a home rodeo as well.”
The Lancers will next compete in the Casper College rodeo April 16-18.
