EWC finishes second at home tournament
The Eastern Wyoming College golf team finished second at their home tournament played September 9-10 at Cottonwood golf course. The Lancers scored 582. Northeastern Junior College won the tournament with a two-day score of 577.
“We had some guys in our starting lineup this week that hadn’t played in that role yet this year,” said Coach Zach Smith. “There were plenty of positives to take away from their experience on the starting team and also those that played as individuals. Conrado has been working so hard, it was fun to see that pay off. Tim and Josh play great the second day, giving us a chance to bounce back after day 1 but we fell a little short. We are excited to get back out there this week in Sterling.”
Leading the Lancers points team was sophomore Tim Van Stiphout, Hasselt, Belguim. He shot 75, 68 – 143 and Joshua Wiese, freshman, Cape Town, South Africa – 75, 68 – 143.
Other Lancers on the points team were:
Oscar Behle, freshman, Hjarup, Sweden – 75, 72 – 147
Remington Newell, sophomore, Spanish Fork, UT – 73, 77 – 150
Simon Carlgren, freshman, Falkoping, Sweden – 78, 76 – 154
Because it was the Lancers home tournament, all players were allowed to play. The following players played individually and did not earn points.
Conrado Chozas, sophomore, Madrid, Spain – 68, 70 – 138
Brendan Thomas, sophomore, Farmington, UT – 70, 72 – 142
Johannes Lindstrom, sophomore, Falkoping, Sweden – 71, 73 – 144
Russel Sprecher, sophomore, Casper, WY – 73, 71 – 144
Owen Walsh, sophomore, Ottawa, Canada – 75, 74 – 149
Andrew Stannard, freshman, Laramie, WY – 91, 85 – 176, 41st
The Lancers will compete in Sterling, CO, September 16-17 in the tournament hosted by Northeastern Junior College.
