EWC wins LCC tournament
The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer golf team won the tournament hosted by Lamar Community College, March 24-25. The Lancers finished with a score of 571. Northeastern Junior College was 2nd with 580.
“It felt great to walk away with a team win after our first Region IX spring tournament. They guys played great on the first day to have a narrow lead going into day 2,” said Coach Zach Smith. “The cold and windy conditions lead to a higher scoring average on the second day but we were able to buckle down and come away with a team win. It was also great to see Russel tie for the individual win. He actually chipped in on the final hole to end the tournament 3 under and tied for the win.”
Russel Sprecher, sophomore, Casper, WY, tied for the tournament win with a score of 137, shooting 67, 70. Other Lancer scores were as follows:
Joshua Wiese, freshman, Cape Town, South Africa – 69, 73 – 142, 3rd
Brendan Thomas, sophomore, Farmington, UT – 69, 77 – 146, tied 5th
Oscar Behle, freshman, Hjarup, Sweden – 77, 72 – 149, tied 8th
Johannes Lindstrom, sophomore, Falkoping, Sweden – 74, 77 – 151, tied 12th
