Lancers Win in McCook
Eastern Wyoming College’s golf team took first place at the recent McCook Community College Tournament held in McCook, Nebraska.
Due to weather, the tournament was reduced to a one-day tournament.
Lancers Ryker Dunkley, sophomore, American Fork, UT; and Taiki Sugawara, freshman, Aizuwakamatsu, Japan, finished in the four-way tie for third with a +3, two strokes out of first place. Fellow Lancer Braylon Bingham, freshman, Cedar City, UT, finished in seventh with a +4, while freshman Joshua Chapman, Redruth, England, finished in a tie for 10th shooting a +7. Sophomore, Leander Suttka, Berlin, Germany, and freshman, Coltin Powell, Ogden, UT, finished in a five way tied for 12th place with a +10.
“It was great to end the Fall Region season with a win in McCook,” EWC head golf coach Zach Smith said. “McCook is the most challenging course in the region, which our freshman found out as they navigated the course,” Smith said. “The native area grew a ton over the summer and the guys did a good job of avoiding it for the most part.” “We are in a good spot moving into the spring season,” he added.
The spring season will start on March 22 in La Junta, Colorado.
