EWC Dunkley will continue career at Hastings College
Lancer Ryker Dunkley will continue his golf career at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska. The American Fork, Utah native signed recently with the Broncos.
“I decided to sign with Hastings because I was really impressed with their coaching, as well as the connection the players had,” Dunkley said. “I was impressed by the school’s facilities, where they played, and the numbers they were putting in at the tournaments.”
Dunkley, a sophomore business administration major at Eastern Wyoming College, said he got used to mid-west and wanted to continue the pursue his Bachelor’s degree in the mid-west.
“I am excited for Ryker and his transition to Hastings,” Lancer golf coach Zach Smith said. “He has done great here and ever since he stepped on campus I knew he was going to be a leader.”
Dunkley had a great freshman year, Smith added. His sophomore year has been “phenomenal,” and the spring golf season will start back up very soon.
His time at EWC has “been great,” Dunkley said. “It’s been building grounds being able to have this opportunity continuing to play college golf, I definitely wouldn’t be at the level I am without EWC. It’s been a great experience with coach, and my teammates. As a team, everyone has appreciated us in the town, and they are super kind. It has been a good time and lot of good golf and fun people that I’ve met.”
The recent fall season has been one of the highlights of Dunkley’s team at EWC. He had five top five finishes, including a tie as a top five medalist.
“I couldn’t be more proud of him,” Smith said. “We loved him at EWC and can’t wait to see what he does at Hastings.”
Dunkley will trade the Lancer black and gold for the Broncos Crimson and White next fall.
“I am super excited just to continue playing college golf as well as finish out a degree in business administration,” Dunkley said. “Go Hastings.”
