Anderson Wins All Around Title, Helps Lancers to Finish 3rd

TORRINGTON, Wyo. – The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Rodeo Team traveled to Cheyenne, Wyoming for the Shawn Dubie Memorial College Rodeo. Thirteen Lancer athletes made it back to short go Sunday and Lancer Carter Anderson won the Men’s All-Around Champion.

Anderson, a Sophomore from Merriman, Nebraska, had a great weekend overall after winning the average in the tie down and placing 4th in the team roping average, clenching enough points allowing for him the Men’s All-Around Champion win.

It was also a great weekend in the Tie down for the EWC rodeo team, three sophomores made it back to short go Sunday. Anderson had an excellent run with a 9.1 second run placing him 4th in the long go. Anderson came back Sunday to win 2nd in the short go with a 9.6 second run, that being 18.7 on two runs allowing him to clench the victory in the average for the weekend.

Lancer Colton Zimmerman had a 9.6 second run to place him 6th in the in the long round. Zimmerman also had a fantastic short go run with 10.0 seconds flat, leaving him 19.6 on two and placing 3rd in the average for the weekend. EWC’s Cooper Phillips had a 10.4 second run in the long go and a 12 flat with a 22.4 average on the weekend placing him 7th.

In team roping, header Edgar Aguilar, and heeler Colton Zimmerman, had a great run in the long go with a 7.4 second run placing them 2nd, after having some tough luck in the short go the two EWC Lancer’s ended up 5th in the average. Carter Anderson and Dalton Moore has a successful long round run with a quick time of 6.7 to place them first for the long go, they ended up 4th in the average. Nick Albrecht a freshman from Sheridan, Wyoming had a 9.4 second run in the long go with his partner Keyton Hayden from the Gillette Rodeo Team placing them 9th. In the short go Albrecht and his partner had a time of 12.3 placing 2nd in the short go and 3rd in the average for the weekend.

In the bulldogging, Lancer TC Hughson had a 6.3 second run placing him 9th in the long go. In the short go Hughson put down a 15.7 second run placing him 8th in the short go. Another member of the EWC rodeo team Teagan Gourneau had a 6.4 second run to place him

10th in the long go, and 10th in the average.

In the Bareback riding EWC’s Cian Daly had a score of 59 to place him 7th in the long go. Daly covered his horse again on short go Sunday to score a 55 placing him 7th in the average for the weekend. Teammate Trey Tuplin had a good Saddle bronc ride in the long with a score of 66 on the first horse and with no luck on Sunday, the Freshman placed 7th in the average.

Brenna Herring a Sophomore from Veteran, Wyoming had a fast time in the breakaway roping with a 2.7 to tie for 10th, 11th, and 12th. Herring placed 11th in the average for the weekend.

Isabelle Comino from Buffalo, Wyoming had a quick time in the long go with a 2.5 and placed 9th in the average for the weekend.

In the Goat Tying, Freshman Abby Collen had a solid 8.5 second run placing her 10 th in the long go, on Sunday the freshman had a 7.8 second run placing her 6 th for the weekend being 16.3 on two.

The EWC Lancer’s Men’s Team placed 3rd for the weekend with 390 points. It was a great weekend at the Shawn Dubie Memorial College Rodeo for the Lancer’s. The Lancers have one more rodeo left in the Fall season, they will be traveling to Lamar, Colorado. Oct. 18-20.
