Lancer Rodeo Team Has Strong Showing at Rustler Round-Up Rodeo

The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer rodeo team found success in multiple events at the Central Wyoming College Rustler Round-Up this past weekend.
In steer wrestling, Taydon Gorsuch won the long round with a 3.8-second run and added a 5.2 in the short round to finish second in the average, earning 120 points. Teagan Gourneau stopped the clock at 4.2 seconds in the long round for a second-place finish, then turned in a 5.3 in the short round to place fifth in the average and collect 75 points.
Freshman Tava Sexton of South Dakota led the Lancers in goat tying. She posted a 7.5 in the long round and a 12.0 in the short round to finish ninth in the average and earn 10 points.
In saddle bronc riding, freshman Cade Else of North Dakota marked 60 points in the long round and improved to 68 in the short round, securing fifth in the average and 40 points. Fellow freshman Kutter Acord of Hyannis, Nebraska, scored 65 points in the long round to place ninth in both the round and the average.
The lone Lancer team ropers, Hurlburt and Gourneau, turned in a 10.1-second run in the long round. After a no-time in the short round, the pair finished ninth overall.
Sophomore Tommie Martin of Hayes, South Dakota, had a strong showing in both barrel racing and breakaway roping. In barrels, she posted an 18.10 in the long round to split fifth/sixth and added an 18.66 in the short round to place ninth in the average, picking up 15 points. In breakaway roping, Martin stopped the clock at 2.5 seconds in the long round to qualify for the short round and finished the weekend ninth in the average.
The Lancers will travel to Sheridan for their next competition Sept. 26–28.
