Andersen to take over the reins of EWC men’s basketball
The athletic department at Eastern Wyoming College has announced that long-time women’s basketball coach and athletic director, Tom Andersen, will take over as head coach of the men’s basketball team, for one-year, following the resignation of Coach Tim Moser. Moser has resigned his position, effective immediately to pursue other opportunities in Tyler, Texas where he will be teaching and coaching. Alicia Hawkins, who has served as an assistant coach for the Lancers will lead the women’s team this season.
“I would like to thank Coach Moser for the tremendous job he did in returning EWC Men’s Basketball as a power in Region 9. Tim is a great coach and has been a great mentor to the young men he has coached,” said Andersen, who will also manage the Fitness Center in Moser’s absence.
Hawkins played at Northeastern Junior College and then went on to play at Colorado State University where during her senior season, they won the Mountain West title. She coached for 1 year at Brush High School and Montana Tech for a year as an assistant. She has been helping the EWC program for 3 years.
“Alicia has been helping us for years and I am excited to see what she can do with the team this year,” added Andersen.
Hawkins added, “I’m excited for this opportunity to coach the women’s team. I hope to push these girls to finish high in the region. I would like to thank Tom and Tim for preparing me for this opportunity.”
Both appointments, Andersen and Hawkins, are one-year, interim positions.
