Chapman Finishes in Top 20 at Thunderbird National Golf Preview
Eastern Wyoming College’s Josh Chapman finished in the top 20 at the Thunderbird National Preview Tournament held in Hobbs, New Mexico. The National Preview brought together community college golfers from across the country.
“I’m proud of the way Josh played through 54 holes,” EWC Head Golf Coach Zach Smith said. “The weather we had was exactly what Josh is used to in England.”
Chapman, a freshman at EWC from Redruth, England, finished in a three-way tie for 17th.
“All the guys played well but I know they felt like they could play better if we qualify for the tournament in May,” Smith said.
Other Lancers competing in the National Preview included Tytan Birchell, Braylon Bingham, Leander Suttka, Ryker Dunkley, and Taiki Sugawara.
“It’s always great to play the national championship course before we hopefully play in May,” Smith said. “It’s a different course than we’ve seen in the past, so it was huge to get some rounds in against some of the best in the country.”
