Chapman Signs with Hastings College

February 20, 2025

Lancer golfer Josh Chapman has signed to continue his golf career at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska.

“I’m excited to continue playing at Hastings College,” Chapman said. “They are nationally ranked, and their program has been on the rise for the last three years.”

Chapman, a sophomore Lancer from Cornwall, England, said the Hastings coach has been in contact with him since his first semester at EWC.

“I like the idea of playing for someone who has as much faith in me as he does,” Chapman added.

His career at EWC has been very successful, with the team winning the Region IX Championship last year.

“Josh has played great during his time here at EWC,” EWC Golf Coach Zach Smith said. “As a freshman, he won our Region IX/West District Championship, which says a lot about how he can rise to the occasion.”

“It’s been a journey for sure,” Chapman said. “It’s been a lot of great experiences, and I’ve met friends for life. I’m very thankful to Coach Smith for allowing me to play here and helping me move forward in my golf career. Coach is an amazing man.”

Chapman’s parents plan to travel from England to Torrington to watch him play in the Lancers’ home tournament at Cottonwood Golf Course April 10-11.

“Josh is really close with his family, so being away from home at times has been pretty tough,” Smith said. “He always tries his hardest for the team, which is one of the reasons he’ll be tough to replace next year. I look forward to seeing him do great things at Hastings College.”

The team will be back in action this spring, and Chapman will play a key role in the team’s drive to another Region IX Championship.
