Eastern Wyoming College Announces Lancer Show Series Winners

November 8, 2021

Eastern Wyoming College and the entire Agriculture program would like to announce and congratulate the winners of the 2021 Lancer Show Series. The Lancer Show Series encourages youth to exhibit livestock purchased at the Lancer Livestock Sale in jackpots throughout the summer.

By entering these jackpots, exhibitors earn points for exhibiting their animal in a breeding or market class but also in showmanship. Points are totaled at the end of the show season (April to July) to determine the winner of the show series.  The youth spend countless hours in the barn not only learning to work with their animal but acquiring important life skills such as responsibility and respect.

Sheep, goats, and pigs are all eligible to enter the Lancer Show Series, as these are the only animals sold at the Lancer Livestock Sale. This year, winners received a jackpot show box, along with a $150.00 cash prize. Second place winners received a cash award of $100.00.

In the swine division, Bently Gilbert from Scottsbluff, Nebraska finished first with his pig purchased from Bomberger Show Pigs of Pine Bluffs, WY.  Bentley’s gilt was also the reserve champion medium weight and grand champion ultrasound carcass at the Scottsbluff County Fair.  Second was Paityn Johnson from Laramie, Wyoming.  Her pig came from Romsa Show Pigs of Albin, WY. Paityn earned additional awards at jackpots and Sweetwater County Fair.

In the goat division, Teigen Derner of Burns, Wyoming earned first place honors with her wether, Gus, which was purchased from SPY Club Lambs and Goats, Burns, WY.   Gus was also a class winner at the Wyoming State Fair, as well as a class winner at the Laramie County Fair Bred and Fed show. Second in the goat division was Colter Camphouse of Evanston, Wyoming.  Colter purchased his doe from Eastern Wyoming College, Torrington, WY.  Colter’s doe also earned the 5th overall doe in the 307-Show Series hosted by the Wyoming State 4-H Program.  There were no sheep that entered the show series this year.
