EWC Education Students Explore Innovation in Teaching
Eastern Wyoming College education students experienced a week of hands-on, cutting-edge learning as they explored what is taught in the modern classroom under the guidance of Dr. LeAnn Smith, who oversees EWC’s education program. Two special sessions brought technology and research-based practice to life.
Technology in Teaching Science
EWC’s Library Director led an interactive workshop on integrating Virtual Reality into science education. Students discovered how VR can transform traditional lessons and even participated in a demonstration showing how frog dissection can be taught through immersive technology.
The Science of Reading
Guest speakers from the Goshen County School District Early Literacy Team shared their research-driven approach to early reading instruction. Their presentation highlighted how strong foundational literacy practices help set students on a path to long-term academic success.
“These sessions are a great example of the hands-on, high-tech opportunities we provide our education majors,” said Dr. Smith. “Connecting students with real-world practices helps prepare them to become outstanding future educators.”
These experiences reinforced EWC’s commitment to offering education that is innovative, connected, and practical for today’s classrooms.
