EWC Esports Wins National Fortnite Championship

The Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) Esports team has claimed the national title in Fortnite after a dominant spring season that ended with a 3-1 victory over Murray State University in the Grand Finals on April 21.

Team members Allen Woodard, Ryder Tillard, and Bridger Bruce led the Lancers to an undefeated 7-0 record during the regular season, which began Feb. 17 in the Central 1 Region. The regular season concluded on March 31.

The team continued its impressive run in the playoffs on April 7, finishing first in the region and earning the No. 1 national seed heading into the National Championship bracket.

In the national semifinals on April 14, EWC defeated fourth-seeded Union County College (UCNJ) of New Jersey, 3-1, to secure their spot in the Grand Finals.

Their victory over Murray State sealed the championship and capped off a historic run for the program.

“This team has shown incredible dedication and talent throughout the season,” EWC Esports Coach Caleb Spitzer said. “Their teamwork and perseverance were unmatched, and we couldn’t be prouder of their accomplishment.”

The win marks Eastern Wyoming College’s first national title in Esports.
