EWC Hosts Wyoming Academic Challenge

Eastern Wyoming College hosted the Wyoming Academic Challenge on February 12, 2022. Wyoming high schools sent fourteen teams to compete. The two to four-member teams participated in four rigorous rounds of competition. Questions ranged from current events, and mathematics to literature. Schools participating were: Campbell County, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Douglas, Poder Academy, Pine Bluffs, and Thunder Basin High School.
Cheyenne Central High School team #1 placed first with a total of 845 points, those students are Megan Cruise, Onika Mullinax, Ethan Winstead, Madison Laird, and Will Sauls. Second place went to Campbell County High School, team # 2 with 745 points, those students are Jack Tinnell, Ainsley Hounson, Charlie Patman, Cooper Stevens, Grant Caufield, and Tate Ellsworth. Third place went to Cheyenne East High School, team #1 with 690 points, those students are David Haberkorn, Caleb Miller, Thomas Dixon, and Karson Costa. Pine Buffs High School team #1 won the Small Schools Division with 380 points, those students are Twyla Butler, Taylor McCollum, and Edwin Morales.
The winning teams were presented with medals. Students on the overall first place team were presented with scholarships to attend EWC.
