EWC shares news of successful USDA visit
Eastern Wyoming College is pleased to share the results of a recent United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) inspection. Recently Dr. Katie Price, USDA, APHIS Animal Care, Veterinary Medical Officer visited the campus in Torrington for a routine inspection of EWC animals used in the Veterinary Technology program.
The report from the visited stated “No non-compliant items identified during the inspection.”
The USDA conducts unannounced inspections of facilities which use research animals a minimum of once a year. Animals used for teaching purposes fall under this category. The inspection consists of a thorough evaluation of the facilities used to house the animals as well as a detailed review of all animal records to ensure compliance with the Animal Welfare Act.
“This successful inspection reflects the dedication of the EWC Veterinary Technology Department students and staff to the highest level of care for animals used for teaching,” said Veterinary Technology Program Director Dr. Edwin C. Bittner.
