EWC Torrington Campus Temporarily Closed Following Windstorm Damage
TORRINGTON, Wyo. – Eastern Wyoming College has temporarily closed its Torrington campus through Sunday, March 15, following facility damage caused by the recent windstorm impacting Goshen County.
The National Weather Service forecast indicates continued high wind potential through Saturday, March 14, which may create hazardous conditions across campus due to debris from damaged structures. Out of an abundance of caution, all campus activities have been cancelled while facilities crews continue assessment and cleanup operations.
College leadership has taken measures to ensure student wellbeing during the temporary closure. Vice President John Hansen has coordinated with campus food services to provide meal delivery for students residing in Eastern Hall and Lancer Hall while the cafeteria remains closed.
Additional operational updates include:
· The Eastern Wyoming College Fitness Center will remain closed until further notice while facility evaluations continue.
· Goshen Community Theatre performances scheduled for this weekend have been postponed, with a rescheduled date to be announced by the theatre organization.
Based on the current facility assessment conducted by Director Popilek, Eastern Wyoming College anticipates resuming regular campus operations on Monday, March 16, though the gymnasium and fitness center may remain closed pending further review.
Eastern Wyoming College thanks the Torrington community for its support and cooperation as the College works to restore campus operations safely and responsibly.
