EWC women’s team win second at LCCC rodeo
The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer rodeo team began their fall season in Cheyenne, Wyoming September 10-12. The EWC women’s team finished second behind the Gillette College women.
Leading the ladies was sophomore Karissa Rayhill from Martin, SD. She was 2nd in the first round of the goat tying, 5th in the short round and 2nd in the average. In the barrel racing she was 5th in the first round, 3rd in the short round and 4th in the average. She also tied for 4th, 5th and 6th in the first round of the breakaway roping. Her strong performance landed her 2nd in the Ladies All-Around race.
Freshman teammates Kamry Knotwell, Encampment, WY, and Ryker Goodman, LaBarge, WY, also both qualified for the short round of the Breakaway roping.
Tristen Hunter, sophomore, Ardmore, SD, placed 2nd in the short round of the tie down roping and 4th in the average. Freshman Ty Moser, Volga, SD, also qualified for the short round of the tie down roping.
“I was really pleased with how our team competed,” shared Coach Jake Clark. “The women’s team had a strong showing and we have some freshman compete really well.”
The Lancers will compete in Chadron, NE September 17-19.
