Lancers Post Strong Showing at Skyline Stampede in Colorado
TORRINGTON, Wyo. – The Eastern Wyoming College rodeo team returned to action following the Easter break with a strong performance at the 2026 Skyline Stampede in Loveland, Colorado.
The Lancers opened competition Friday during the 1 p.m. slack with steer wrestling. Taydon Gorsuch, second out in the event, delivered a 9.0-second run to place fourth in the long round. He followed with an 8.9-second effort, finishing with an 18.2 on two head to take second in the average. The result moved Gorsuch to sixth in the regional standings with two weekends remaining in the season.
In tie-down roping, Caden Stoddard added another short round appearance for the Lancers, clocking an 11.4 to finish 10th in the average.
Eastern Wyoming College also found success in the roughstock events, with multiple competitors advancing to Sunday’s short round. Sawyer Hutchinson led the way in saddle bronc riding, scoring a 69 in the long round before posting a 76-point ride in the short go for a total of 145, placing sixth overall. Kutter Acord contributed consistent rides of 70 and 73 to earn go- round points, while freshman Wyatt Feddersen made his first short round appearance with two 60-point rides. Overall, the men’s team compiled several top-10 finishes across events.
On the women’s side, Tommie Martin and Alyssa Salazar represented the Lady Lancers in the short round after both qualified in breakaway roping with identical 3.1-second runs. Martin improved to a 2.7 in the finals to place fourth with a 5.8 on two head, while Salazar followed with a 2.8 for a 5.9 total, finishing fifth in the average.
The Lancers will have the weekend off before heading to the Casper College Rodeo April 17–19.
