Lancers Sweep Home Tournament

TORRINGTON, Wyo. – Eastern Wyoming College’s golf teams delivered a dominant performance on their home course, sweeping the competition and continuing their strong push toward the postseason.

The Lady Lancers controlled the leaderboard from start to finish, claiming the top six individual spots while securing the team title. Bailey Watson and Sara Maciej shared medalist honors, each finishing at 23-over par. Teammates Elliann Irick and Madison Fujimoto tied for third at 25- over, followed by Jessica Applegarth in fifth at 27-over and Georgie Paterakis in sixth at 34- over.

“It was great to get another Region IX win for both teams,” EWC head golf coach Zach Smith said. “Both the men’s and women’s teams continue to improve and get ready for the district tournaments right around the corner.”

On the men’s side, the Lancers also dominated, with the A team capturing first place at 18-over par. The B team followed closely, finishing just one stroke back at 19-over to secure second place. Northeastern Junior College placed third at 37-over.

“The men’s B team played great, giving the men’s A team a run for their money but ended up just one stroke behind them to capture second place behind our A team,” Smith added.

Individually, Jace Nielsen led the way for the Lancers, finishing atop the leaderboard at 2-under par. Teammate Aiden Walker followed closely at 1-under. Jamie Lambert tied for third at 3-over, while Ben Brown and Freddie Dancox shared fifth place at 4-over.

Josh Lane tied for seventh at 5-over, and Josh White placed ninth at 9-over. Kaden Linford finished tied for 11th at 1-over. Additional competitors for the Lancers included Troy Young, Landen Gilmore and Daniel Meyer.

“I want to send a special thanks to the EWC marketing team that streamed the event on our YouTube channel both days, including Friday morning when it was very cold,” Smith said. “I also want to thank the EWC Booster Club for providing sack lunches for golfers and coaches on Friday. It’s a great showing of hospitality to our fellow competitors. Thank you to everyone that showed up to support Lancer Golf.”
