Nicolls recognized as Professional Employee of the Year
Eastern Wyoming College is proud to announce the recognition of Mr. Stan Nicolls, Professional Employee of-the-Year award for the Wyoming Association of Community College Trustees. He received his award conference in Cheyenne, WY on February 7, 2019. Nicolls bested nominees from each of the Wyoming community colleges.

Mr. Nicolls has been the Welding Coordinator and Instructor since 2011. He worked as an adjunct instructor and handled shop maintenance from 1991 to 2011. He coordinates workforce opportunities within the EWC service area for regional businesses and local governmental agencies. This includes the utilization of the EWC Mobile Welding Lab. Stan played an integral part in planning and designing the welding and machine tooling labs in the newly opened Career and Technical Education Center on the main campus. “Stan Nicolls is an extremely hands-on professional. He is more than willing to roll up his sleeves to get the job done and learn new ideas by listening and watching,” said Dr. Lesley Travers, EWC President.
Achievement awards were given for Student of the Year, Classified Employee, Faculty Member, Professional Employee, Trustee Leadership Award, and Foundation Volunteer Leadership Award. Nomination packets included examples on how the nominee has had a positive impact on their community college, leadership roles and involvement in the community.
Other Eastern Wyoming College nominees included Kodi Edwards, Student; John Marrin, Faculty; Linda Evans, Classified staff; Mike Varney, Trustee; and Joe Guth, Foundation Volunteer.

Also presented at the WACCT reception was the All-Wyoming Academic Team. Each year, Wyoming Community Colleges nominate high achieving students to the All-Wyoming Academic Team. To be nominated, students must demonstrate academic excellence and intellectual rigor combined with leadership and service that extends their education beyond the classroom to benefit society. In addition, they must be a member of their local Phi Theta Kappa chapter and complete an All-USA Academic Team application. Students recognized from EWC were Shaniah Freeseman, Gordon, NE; and Tayte Rodriguez, Torrington, WY.
