Results from the Riverton College Rodeo

The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Rodeo Team traveled to Riverton, Wyoming for the Rustler Roundup College Rodeo Sept. 20-22. Seven Lancer athletes made it back to short go Sunday.

Lancer Griffin Grooms, a Freshman from Ogalala, South Dakota had a great weekend in barrel racing. In the long go, Grooms had an 18.24 second run placing her 9th. In the short go the freshman kept it consistent with an 18.48 placing her 4th in the average for the weekend.

In the bulldogging Lancer’s Taydon Gorsuch of Gering, Nebraska, and Tc Hughson of Mitchell, Nebraska, both had a successful weekend. In the long go, Gorsuch laid down a 3.7 second run winning the long go, while Hughson laid down a 5.0 second run placing him 8th going into the short go. On Sunday, both kept it clean. Hughson made a 7.4 second run to place 8th in the average for the weekend. While Gorsuch had come into the short go first, he laid down a 6.5 second run placing 4th overall for the weekend.

In the team roping, header Jace Hurlburt, of Arcadia Nebraska, and heeler Eli Leppell, of Keene North Dakota, had a great run in the long go with an 8.3 second run tying them for 10th and 11th in the long go, after having some tough luck in the short go the two EWC Lancer’s ended up 11th in the average.

In the calf roping EWC’s Colton Zimmerman from Wellington Colorado, put down a 11.1 second run to land him 10th coming into the short go. On Sunday Zimmerman had a 14.0 second run placing him 10th in average for the weekend.

Lancer Isabelle Camino, a sophomore from Buffalo, Wyoming had a good weekend in the goat tying with a 7.1 second run tying her for 5th and 6th. In the short go Camino had a 9.6 second run placing her 9th in the average for the weekend.

For the weekend the Lancer rodeo men’s team placed 9th with 100 points. The Lancers will be competing next in Sheridan Wyoming, Sept. 27-29.
