CONTINUING CONTRACT
Faculty will be hired for a term that will not exceed one year. By April 1 of each year, any additional annual Employment Contract may be offered to the faculty at the discretion of the College President.

TENURE:
The College President shall consider tenure for faculty upon completion of the tenure process. Refer to the Faculty Handbook for a full description of the tenure processes. Faculty are subject to a three-year tenure process. Adjunct employment and summer terms do not contribute toward tenure. Faculty may request to suspend the tenure process, for a maximum of one year (i.e., two semesters), during the process, after approval from the College President. If tenure is not achieved at the end of the tenure process the faculty will be dismissed. Faculty who do not receive tenure are eligible for appointments of term contracts at the discretion of the President.
After tenure is received, a faculty member has the right to hold the position during efficient and competent service and the right not to be removed therefrom except in cases involving serious or repeated misconduct, inability to perform duties, or genuine financial necessity for the institution.
Should the faculty be promoted to an administrative position, earned faculty tenure rights do not accompany the employee to his or her new position. A tenured faculty member promoted to an administrative position retains tenure should they return to a faculty position. When a faculty employee resigns or otherwise voluntarily leaves employment with EWC, that faculty’s tenure rights, status, and expectations end with their date of resignation. Tenured faculty who return to EWC following resignation, retirement or voluntary leave may appeal to the College President to have tenure reinstated.

NON-TENURED TERM APPOINTMENTS
Faculty and the President may mutually agree to a term contract to meet the needs of the college. A term contract may appoint faculty for a period of time to not exceed one year. Term contracts are not eligible for the tenure process.
