Registration for EWC’s Nursing Program now open
Students interested in finding a rewarding, high paying career can now apply for the nursing program at Eastern Wyoming College campus in Douglas and Torrington.
“I really like the atmosphere here” EWC nursing student Morgan Douglass said. “The small class size is great. You get to know everyone.”
After finishing her prerequisites, Morgan enrolled and was accepted into EWC’s day cohort in Douglas.
While she was working on her prerequisites Morgan did clinicals at Wyoming Behavioral Institute during her sophomore year.
“I like the patients,” she said. She also “loved being in the ER (Emergency Room). I like the chaos.” The love of the chaos will come in handy after finishing the nursing program.
“I plan on going into the Air Force after graduating,” Morgan said. “I really like the craziness. You never know what’s going to be next.”
If you are interested in pursuing a career in nursing now is the time to get started. Wyoming’s annual income for RN’s is $73,130, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
You will need to apply to attend EWC, then fill out a second application for the nursing program.
Applications will go live in January. Visit EWC’s website (ewc.wy.edu) and click on the nursing program photo, create an account and then apply. Students need to have their prerequisites done or in progress by the end of the spring semester. If they have prerequisite classes in progress during the application period, the student’s mid-term GPA is used for admission calculation. All of the information is on EWC’s website: https://ewc.wy.edu/academic-services/majors/nursing/.
Potential students will also need to take a TEAS test, which will have to be scheduled. It has a separate tab for the information and that website is: https://ewc.wy.edu/academic-services/majors/nursing/teas-testing-schedules/.
