EWC to host Fall Concert

EWC Fall Music Concert 2016Eastern Wyoming College has announced the Fall Concert will be held Sunday, October 16 at 2 pm in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

The concert is free and open to the public and will feature the EWC Master Chorus, Community Chorus, and Community Band.

Jeanne Howard will accompany the choirs, directed by Aaron Bahmer. The band is directed by five volunteers who also play in the band; Rich Zigwied, Gary Glass, Brittney Milstead all band directors for Goshen County schools, Gary DeBolt and Aaron Bahmer.

EWC wins final golf tournament of fall season

The final golf tournament of the fall season was recently hosted by Central Wyoming College in Riverton, WY where the Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Golf Team won with a two-day total of 472.  Because of rain, the second day of the tournament was called after 9 holes.  Otero Junior College was second with a two-day total of 473.  The Lancers won 5 of 6 six tournaments this fall season.

“One of the good things we have done as a team this year is play better the second day of the tournament,” said Coach Zach Smith.  “Which is really good because we were down by four strokes after the first day of play on Sunday.  It is exciting for these students to have their fifth consecutive win.”

Adrian Torres-RuizSophomore Adrian Torres-Ruiz led the Lancer team with a two-day total of 117 (78 – 39) which placed him 4th overall.  Other Lancer scores are listed below.

EWC Highlights Upcoming Social Media Classes

The Community Education office at Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington is now accepting enrollments for the following classes.

Facebook—Beyond the Basics

Andrew McKinley will go a bit further in the areas of social media for business, clubs, hobbies, events, or advertising.  This class will include hands-on time with a computer and will be held on Tuesday October 18 from 6:00–8:00 pm and will cost $25.

Skype—What’s all the Hype?

The hype is that Skype has broken many barriers to communication in the age of technology, especially for those of us that still enjoy seeing the person(s) to whom we are talking.  An introduction to Skype including setting up a free account for personal use as well as applications for businesses will be the focus of this class.

This class will be held on October 20 from 6:00–8:00 pm and will cost $25.

The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Golf Team won the McCook Community College hosted tournament with a two-day total of 631 (319-312).  Central Wyoming College was second with a two-day score of 655.

Freshman Harry Walch won the tournament with scores of 75-78, 153.  This is the second tournament win in a row for Walch who is from Staines, England.

“McCook has a very challenging golf course so I was happy to walk away with a win,” said Coach Zach Smith.  “It’s very hilly which challenges our players physically and mentally.  It was great to have Harry win back-to-back tournaments.  Once again, it took a total team effort to pull off the win.  I am proud of the team.”

With one day off, the Lancers traveled to Riverton, WY to play in the last tournament of the season hosted by Central Wyoming College October 2 – 3.

The Eastern Wyoming College Athletic Department will celebrate Dick Fullmer at the volleyball game on Friday, October 7, 2016 where EWC will play Northwest College at 7 pm in the Petsch Center Gymnasium.  Dick recently retired as a long-time sports announcer for KGOS/KERM.  Please join EWC for Dick Fullmer night at the game.  On Saturday, October 8, 2016 it will be Pink Out as the THS volleyball games will be held at EWC beginning at 11 and will be followed by the EWC vs Sheridan College game at 3 pm.  Banner Health Community Hospital will be providing a free hot dog meal from 11 – 4.   Go Lancers!

EWC Community Education announces Little Digger Volleyball has been postponed

Eastern Wyoming College Community Education Department announces that Little Diggers Volleyball has been postponed due to the unavailability of an instructor and low registration count.

Diggers Volleyball is designed to introduce the game and fundamental skills of volleyball to elementary aged boys and girls in a fun and safe environment.

The Community Education office hopes to reschedule this class as soon as possible.

EWC Vet Tech club holding dog wash

The Eastern Wyoming College Veterinary Technology Club will be holding a dog wash on Friday, October 14. Appointments will begin at 12:30 pm and walk-ins will be taken from 12:30 – 2:30 pm. The dog wash will conclude at 5:30 pm. A current rabies certificate is required to participate, rabies tags cannot be accepted.

Pricing for the dog wash is as follows:

Bath:
Small Dog (0-20#) $8
Medium Dog (20.1-50#) $10
Large Dog (50.1 – 90#) $12
Extra Large Dog (90.1 and above) $14

Added charge for Long hair: (Require additional grooming and drying time)
Small – $3, Medium – $5, Large – $7, Extra Large – $9

Other Services:
Nail trim: $5

Please be aware that the veterinary technology club students do not groom past minor brushing. The students will not be doing any shaving. If the students cannot brush out the mats, they will be left.
