Our Mission

The mission of the Eastern Wyoming College Foundation is to support the growth and success of Eastern Wyoming College and its students by securing and stewarding philanthropic resources. We are dedicated to promoting excellence in education, advancing access to higher education, and enhancing the academic, cultural, and athletic programs at EWC. Through strategic fundraising and community engagement, we strive to foster partnerships and create opportunities that empower our students, faculty, and staff to achieve their fullest potential and positively impact the communities we serve. Our commitment is to uphold the values of integrity, inclusivity, innovation, and collaboration as we work towards advancing the mission and vision of Eastern Wyoming College. A priority of the Foundation is to build the strongest possible relationships with its donors and communities that strengthen College and student opportunities.

The Eastern Wyoming College Foundation, established in 1964, is a qualified 501(c)(3) charitable organization and operates under an annually reviewed memorandum of agreement with the EWC Board of Trustees.

Foundation investments are overseen by the Finance Committee, along with staff support from the College’s chief financial officer. The Finance Committee interacts with professional investment advisors with expertise in managing diversified investment portfolios. The EWC Foundation operates within its approved investment policy and expenditure policy and is audited annually in conjunction with the EWC college audit.

Foundation Activities

The Foundation manages over 100 scholarships, including 80 endowed scholarships and 26 annually funded scholarships, generously contributed by individuals, families, and businesses. These scholarships support student opportunity and excellence in program delivery across various academic areas of the College.

The Foundation holds special events to rais funds for student opportunities at Eastern Wyoming College and provides opportunities for the community to enjoy a night out or a day on the golf course.

Distinguished Alumni

The Foundation also oversees the annual Distinguished Alumni program, which has been in place since 1991. Nominations are made annually, and the recipient is invited to speak at the May graduation ceremonies. Distinguished Alumni Award. In 2011, the Foundation introduced the Distinguished Service Award to recognize outstanding contributions to the college and community. Albert C. Conger Distinguished Service Award.

Annual Golf Tournament

The Foundation hosts an annual golf tournament to support the general activities of the Foundation. The event, a four-person scramble, including a team mulligan, is held at the City of Torrington Golf Course. This event raises an average of $9,000/year for Foundation programs. Hole sponsorships are available, and a steak dinner and Calcutta are held on the eve of the tournament day.

Sagebrush ‘n Roses

In collaboration with the College’s Agriculture and Livestock Judging programs. This “Black Tie and Blue Jeans” elegant dinner and dance, held at the Goshen County Fairgrounds Rendezvous Center, supports scholarships and program needs for agriculture students at EWC. 

The Foundation is also involved in the State Endowment Challenge program, which matches endowment gifts on a dollar-for-dollar basis. The maximum amount raised privately through this program is $5 million.
