Eastern Wyoming College has announced that the American Welding Society conducted a review of EWC’s Weld Test Facility.

EWC’s American Welding Society Weld Test Center was established in 2007. The instructors Test Weld in accordance with Codes AWS D1.1, ASME, and API 1104.

The test facility is accredited every year with an on sight inspection conducted every three years. Updates to the Quality assurance Manual includes:

Organization and personnel structure
Personnel and qualifications
All Test supervisors must be AWS Certified Welding Inspectors
Safety procedures for testing
Equipment maintenance and calibration
Weld test material verifiable by type and source
Qualification records and Record keeping procedures

Requirements that are met each year include a current reference library, training programs required to maintain and improve skills, and verification of testing and measuring equipment.

“The auditor went through our program with a fine tooth comb,” said Dr. Monte Stokes, Welding Department Chair. A quote from the summary says ‘A very nice, new, clean facility with excellent equipment. Run by a well-qualified staff with an excellent attitude and excellent record keeping. I strongly recommended this facility to be re-accredited.’

The next regular program accreditation review is scheduled for 2020.
