Eastern Wyoming College Vet Tech Club students held a quilt raffle on the Torrington Campus during December. The quilt was donated by EWC’s President, Dr. Lesley Travers. The club raised $164. The club donated the money raised to the Goshen County Task Force on Family Violence.

The Eastern Wyoming College men’s basketball team will play Gillette College in a Region IX playoff game on Saturday, February 29 at 4:00 pm in Gillette, WY.

Eastern Wyoming College has released Day 1 and Day 10 enrollment summaries for the Spring 2020 semester.

The Spring 2020 Day 1 headcount increased by 38 (7.8%) students compared to Spring 2019. Full-time enrollment increased by 14 students (4.1%) and Part-time enrollment increased by 24 students (17.0%). The total headcount enrollment was 524, (359 full-time, 165 part-time) compared to 486 in Spring 2019. Full-time equivalency (FTE) increased by 34.91 or 6.6% the same period.

The Day 10 headcount increased by 26 (5.3%). Full-time enrollment increased by 16 students (4.6%) and Part-time enrollment increased by 10 students (6.8%). Total headcount enrollment was 521 compared to 495 in Spring 2019. Day 10 FTE was 557.50, a 5.7% increase over Day 10, 2019.

“Efforts from faculty, advisors, and Academic and Student Services personnel to retain existing students and enroll new students likely contributed to the increases we saw in Spring 2020 headcount numbers,” shared Dr. Heidi Edmunds, Vice President for Academic Services. “We worked hard to register students for Spring classes before they left for Christmas break, and our recruiters and advisors brought several new students to campus to start the semester. We are pleased with the outcome of these efforts.”

The Eastern Wyoming College Lady Lancers women’s basketball team will host Central Wyoming College in a Region IX playoff game on Friday, February 28 at 6:30 pm in the Petsch Center Gymnasium, Torrington, WY.

Eastern Wyoming College recognized the sophomore student-athletes for both the women and men’s basketball teams at their last home game on Saturday, February 15. Both teams were victorious against Western Wyoming College.

Eastern Wyoming College honored Lady Lancer basketball Head Coach Tom Andersen for his accomplishment of 200 wins at the helm. Coach Andersen is in his thirteenth year after joining the Lancer team in 2007. The Lady Lancer’s current record is 14-12 which has put Andersen on track to his 7^th winning season. The Lancer Booster Club sponsored a reception at the Bucking Horse Steakhouse for Coach Andersen after the games on Saturday, February 15.

Eastern Wyoming College will once again host a Job Expo on Tuesday, February 25^th in Torrington, Wyoming.

The Job Expo will begin at 12:00 noon in the Verl Petsch Jr Activities Center Gymnasium at the College and will conclude at 4 pm. Attendees should come prepared with a resume and be prepared for an interview.

Eastern Wyoming College hosted the Wyoming Academic Challenge on February 15, 2020. Six Wyoming high schools sent eleven teams to compete. The two to four-member teams participated in four rigorous rounds of competition. Questions ranged from current events, and mathematics to literature. Schools participating were: Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Cheyenne Poder, Douglas, Pine Bluffs, and Riverside.

Cheyenne East High School team #1 placed first with a total of 560 points, those students are Conner Hayes, Savannah Schilling, and Brooke Culp. Second place went to Pine Bluffs team # 1 with 520 points, those students are Gregory Fornstrom, Brian Arzola, Tessa Long, and Diana Sanchez. Third place went to Cheyenne East High School team #2 with 470 points, those students are Fox Nelson, Sophie DeMatteo, and Alexys Cassel. Pine Buffs High School team #1 won the small schools division with 520 points.

The winning teams were presented with medals. Students on the overall first-place team were presented with scholarships to attend EWC.
