Eastern Wyoming College has selected Dr. Donald B. Appiarius as the next Vice President for Student Services. After a competitive selection process that netted nearly 40 applicants, the College’s process included multiple interviews and the Committee’s decision reflected inputs received from Open Forum sessions held at the Douglas Campus and in Torrington.

“Dr. Appiarius will be a great addition to EWC as the next Vice President for Student Services. He is extremely ‘student’ oriented and his leadership approach at previous institutions has been very intentional and mindful toward student success,” said Dr. Lesley Travers, President. “Don will be instrumental in the College’s efforts as it moves to increase enrollment, improve retention, completion, and graduation, and ultimately place students in the work force.”

Dr. Appiarius has over 23 years and a broad range of student services experience in higher education at a variety of large-to-small and rural-to-urban institutions. His most recent positions included Associate Dean of Students at University of Saint Francis and both the Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at Radford University.  Dr Appiarius also has 14 years’ experience as a higher education instructor and adjunct faculty.  Originally from New York, Dr Appiarius possesses two bachelor degrees from Mary Washington College, a master of science in Conflict Management from George Mason University, and earned his educational doctorate in Organizational Management from Oakland City University in 2017.

“I am honored and humbled to have been chosen as the VP for Student Services at EWC and am thankful to President Travers, the Board, and the Selection Committee for their confidence,” stated Dr. Appiarius.  “I was immediately impressed by the level of commitment throughout the College to serve and support students and am looking forward to enhancing the good work already being done.”

Dr Appiarius will officially begin his assigned duties on July 1, 2018.
