Eastern Wyoming College student athletes receive awards

NJCAA headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO has released the names of the 2014-2015 NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards and All Academic Teams.  Over 1,900 student-athletes met the requirements for individual academic honors.

The requirements for these NJCAA achievement awards are as follows:

Exemplary Academic Achievement for a grade point average of 3.60 to 3.79 on a 4.00 scale.

Eastern Wyoming College student-athletes Kara Babola, women’s basketball, Austin, Texas, Shelby Burroughs, Yoder, WY volleyball and Nelson Kahler, Noosa Heads, New Zealand, men’s basketball received the Exemplary Academic Achievement award.

Student Athletes that were recognized for Academic All-Region were: Volleyball, Jesselyn Burroughs, Yoder, WY; Shelby Burroughs; Adele Cass, Hereford, CO; Brittaney O’Kief, Woodlake, NE; McKayla Peterson, Gillette, WY; Nicole Smith, Morrill, NE; Women’s basketball; Kara Babola; Lizette Heredia, El Paso, TX; Joanna Perez, El Paso, TX; Men’s Basketball, Nelson Kahler; Golf, Aaron Nirider, Riverton, WY and Blake Wisroth, Torrington, WY.

Students must have at least two consecutive full-time semesters with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher to earn Academic All-Region honors.

“We are extremely proud of the academic success of our student-athletes at EWC.  This not only shows the dedication of the students but the great efforts of our faculty and staff.  These are all athletes with which we can be very proud” said Tom Andersen, Interim Athletic Director.
